Belly Dance By Niusha
Niusha grew up on an island in the San Francisco Bay called Alameda learning jazz, tap and ballet. As an adult she signed up for a belly dance class through the park and recreation department and was instantly addicted to belly dance and the community surrounding it. Niusha first began her studies with Tatseena and performed in her troupes The Good Vibrations, Dreams of Cleo and Serpent Sirens at belly dance festivals, community events and the Northern California Pirate Festival. From there, she studied with Samira Dawn performing in her troupe Shimmy Dreams and took many workshops with various teachers in Northern California including Amberetta, Elizabeth Strong, Amy Sigil and Jill Parker. Niusha is certified in Jill’s Alchemy Certification program and credits Jill with helping fuse the connection of movement and where it originates in the body in order to better understand it, execute it, create it and share emotions through it that are truly genuine. Niusha directs her own fusion style troupe, Hip Logic and is a member of the Bay Area Chapter of Qabila Folkdance company. Her goal in dance and with her troupe is to make the audience involved in the piece in a way that makes them think, feel and listen to others in a new way. She shares her heart in every performance in hopes that others will find the beauty in the dance and a desire to seek out more experiences of dance, the cultures of the middle east and see the beauty that it contains.
